Cloth Diapers...

Just for you Cindy!
I have eczema, and Zach and I were afraid that our baby would have it also when she was born (which she does have). While we were living in Alaska, we did a lot of research and found several different cloth diapers. My sister in law, Jen, also uses cloth diapers, and had bought lots of different kinds. She told us to try out the BumGenius. We bought them through the Cotton Babies website, because they were the most economical there. We fell in love with how soft they were. We bought 24 diapers for $400. At first it really was a large investment, but now we wouldn't buy disposable diapers for the world! Anyways, how much do you spend on a 2 year supply of diapers?? A whole lot more than $400, guaranteed!!
Carla doesn't mind having her diaper changed, and we love that! She has also never gotten a rash! The ones that we have are "one size." They can adjust to 3 different sizes, they fit from newborn until 35 lbs, so about 2 yrs. My friend tried them on her 1 yr old, and he hated having the messy cloth diaper so she new when to change him, and realized that it would be a whole lot easier to potty train him if he knew when he was messy and didn't like it.
We have a sprayer that hooks on to the toilet so that we can spray the poop into the toilet and then we just stick them in the washer and presto! Clean diapers! The other nice thing about BumGenius is that the diapers that a leak proof lining, so no blowouts! Poop stays where it should...in the diaper!
There are two inserts, one is the newborn insert and the other is the regular insert. When you start using the regular insert, use can also put in the newborn insert at nighttime if your baby is a heavy wetter!

My husband even loves these diapers! If a man likes them, then you'll love them! Added plus... they have colors!! So your baby looks oh so adorable just in the diaper!

My Birthday!

On Jan 25th, I turned 22 years old! We had a party at my parent's house on my Birthday Eve and I danced until everyone dropped. Oh I love to dance. We ate BBQ chicken and steaks...ummmmm! Even Carlita was having a grand old time! Then on my Birthday we went up to my in-laws! We had so much fun! Food, laughing, Death by Chocolate! My idea of an ideal birthday. I even got sexy hot pink high heels from Zach!! Grrrrr!!!!!
Okay okay, so maybe I'm 25 now, just maybe.

Carla's First Smile

She smiled for reallys at 2 weeks. When I say for reallys, I mean she wasn't smiling because she was sleeping or had gas. Tee hee hee!

Rub-a-Dub-Dub Baby in the Tub

This was Carla's first bath! She was 2 weeks old. You know, we had to wait until the umbilical cord fell off, then healed. At first she was screaming like a maniac, then she was ok with it. Now, she LOVES bath time!!

Christmas Time!

Christmas Eve we spent with my in-laws! We played games and ate a lot of food... We had a blast! It was nice to be around so much family.

Christmas Day we spent at my parents house. Sari, Noemi, and Abi came down from California, so most of the family was together for Christmas dinner. Carla also had her first ponytail!!

Zach's 26th Birthday

December 14th my lover turned 26. When he was a boy, his family always had real Christmas Trees. So, I decided to get him a Christmas tree! It was amazing to see the excitement on his face. That night we had friends and family over for yummy food and cake. We did the traditional "stuffing the face in the cake," and he in turn got me back! Oh such good memories!!

Our GREATEST Blessing... CARLITA

Yes ladies and gents, what you've all been waiting for: a picture of our angel. Carla was born by c-section on Nov. 16 2008 (also my mom's birthday) at 2:23 am. She was 2 1/2 weeks early. She weighed 5 lbs 7 oz, and was 19.5 inches long. We were in the hospital for 5 days. Carla was in the special needs unit. That is a very long story so if you really want to know it, you'll have yo call me. Now she is a beautiful healthy baby.

Back to Utah we go...

So, after living one amazing year in Alaska, we decided to move back to Utah. Why you ask?? Well, because I was pregnant!!! Yup, we were expecting a beautiful baby girl. Carla Abcde Roberts. I was having a lot of complications and was high risk, so we saw fit to move back to Utah for better medical services. Trust me it was a good thing we did! We moved back to Utah in mid August. We are so happy here with all of our wonderful loving family close by.

Oops, here are a couple Wedding Pics

Life in Alaska...

Once we returned from our honeymoon, we started life in Utah, and three weeks later, we moved to Alaska...
"Baby, I'm moving to Alaska on Saturday, you wanna come?"
"Uh I guess so."

I'll leave it up to you to figure out who said what. Hint* The length of the sentence is deceiving.

Life in Alaska was bliss! We worked together at Best Western. We were together 24/7, it was great! I got to spend all day with my favorite person in the world, the love of my life. We lived about a mile away from the Mendenhall Glacier and two miles the other direction was the Ocean. Our favorite pass time on Sundays was to go to the Shrine of Saint Therese and watch the whales and the sea otters swim by. Then we would go to the glacier and see the bears fishing, and porcupines climbing the trees. Our great are God's creations!

For all of those who insisted on me blogging!

Well, I've done it! I've given in! I am now a blogger! I know, I know, it is a huge shocker for you and me both.
So for those of you who don't know much about what is going on in my life at this point, here we go.

Zach and I were married May 26, 2007. After a MONTH honeymoon in El Salvador and Guatemala, we reluctantly returned to Utah to start reality once more. While we were in El Salvador, we went to the ocean, Lago Coatepece, Antigua, and were able to spend some much needed time with Abuelita Tere and all of our other family in El Salvador and Guatemala. It was an amazing honeymoon, filled with much drama. Zach was in the hospital for 3 days during the first week that we were there. Lo and behold, he had parasites. So, we cuddled and slept on the tiny hospital bed. The joys of going to another country!
